General Quarters prepares for comeback

General Quarters worked Sunday over the Churchill Downs track in preparation for a return to racing Friday.  The son of Sky Mesa was last seen finishing seventh in the Arlington Million in August.  He’ll face six rivals, including Wise Dan, in Friday’s allowance race – a seven furlong dirt sprint.

Arlington Million winner Paradise Creek dies

The Japan Bloodhorse Breeders’ Association reports that Paradise Creek has died at age 22. Paradise Creek won eight of 11 starts during a brilliant 1994 U.S. racing season, which included wins in the Arlington Million and the Early Times Manhattan Handicap.  He stood at stud in Japan from 1995 to 2010.
