Charles Town drops takeout on four exotic wagers

Auditors: Watch horsemen’s spending at WV tracks

Auditors recommended Tuesday that West Virginia lawmakers might want to tighten spending rules and oversight of lottery revenues that benefit horsemen’s groups at Charles Town and Mountaineer. Charles Town sees 2010 boost in handle

Charles Town saw an 8% gain in all-sources handle in 2010, even though the West Virginia track had more race days in 2009.  Average daily handle was up 10.1% in 2010. But despite a full-scale casino that produces revenue for purses, total purses at Charles Town declined more than $4 million, year-to-year.
