Romans: Shackleford to train “as if” running in Belmont

At her blog, Lexington Herald-Leader turf writer Alicia Wincze Hughes quotes trainer Dale Romans as saying Thursday that he will train Preakness winner Shackleford “as if” he’ll run in the Belmont.  Shackleford trained over a sloppy Churchill Downs track Thursday and will likely head to New York “in the next few days.”
