Trainer Jason Servis ruled his charge Sunny Ridge out of the Wood Memorial on Monday, according to the Daily Racing Form. The 3-year-old son of Holy Bull most recently finished fourth in the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct.
The New Jersey-bred exited that race a bit tired, reported Servis, and would not be ready to race by April 9, the date of the $1 million Wood Memorial, which offers 100 points toward the Kentucky Derby to the winner. He remains based at Belmont and his next start is yet to be determined.
Prior to the Gotham, Sunny Ridge posted a surprise three-quarter length victory in the Grade 3 Withers Stakes, earning ten Kentucky Derby points. The gray gelding's record currently stands at three wins from seven starts, with earnings of over $540,000.
