Rebel Stakes winner Omaha Beach breezed a bullet five furlongs on Saturday at Santa Anita, covering the distance in a bullet 1:00.60 under Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith. The 3-year-old son of War Front began well back of his workmate, but rolled up the inside to pull away with ease at the finish. Omaha Beach is expected to make his next start in the G1 Arkansas Derby next Saturday.
“Beautiful. Mike was ecstatic,” trainer Richard Mandella told drf.com. “He relaxed so easy, and Mike said when the rail opened up he just took him there. Plenty nice. Good as you're gonna get. He seems to be getting better and better.”
