Jockey agent Derek Lawson told drf.com that Flavien Prat has elected to ride stakes-winner Galilean in the March 16 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn, rather than talented maiden winner Omaha Beach. Both sophomores plan to ship to Arkansas from their Southern California bases, hoping to return home with the winner's share of 50 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby.
Galilean, by Uncle Mo, most recently captured the 1 1/16-mile California Cup Derby at Santa Anita by 4 1/2 lengths. Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, the three-time winner breezed five furlongs in 1:01.20 on Tuesday with Prat in the saddle.
Omaha Beach is another dirt-talent sired by War Front, at least based on his nine-length maiden special weight triumph over seven furlongs on Feb. 2 at Santa Anita. Trained by Richard Mandella, the colt has a bevy of race experience with five starts, and has finished in the top three every time he leaves the starting gate.
CORRECTION: Derek Lawson is agent to jockey Flavien Prat. An early version of this article incorrectly named Prat's agent.
