Press Release

The Maryland Jockey Club today announced the release of a free mobile application for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry smartphones.

The app was available for download on Apple Thursday, April 28 and will provide instant, real-time access to the latest Preakness® Stakes updates, including news releases, historical data, blogs and wagering information.

The app will be available on Android and BlackBerry later this week.

In addition, the app will provide facts and figures on the daily races during Pimlico Race Course's spring meeting, including handicapper Frank Carulli's morning line and pre-race program notes as well as scratches, results (with payouts) and video replays.

“Social media has changed the landscape of how we communicate,” said Maryland Jockey Club president Tom Chuckas. “We thought it was logical to launch this new platform around our biggest event but plan on utilizing it year-round.”

The 136th running of the $1 million Preakness (Grade I), the middle jewel of the Triple Crown, is Saturday, May 21.
