Trainer Steve Asmussen told drf.com on Saturday that 3-year-old Reride, winner of the $100,000 Mine That Bird Stakes at Sunland Park in his most recent start, will travel to Dubai for his next start. The Winchell Thoroughbreds homebred, a son of Candy Ride, is being pointed to the UAE Derby on the Dubai World Cup undercard. The race offers 100 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby to the winner.
“He ran a very fast race at Sunland,” Asmussen said. “The timing of this race suits him, and he travels well.”
Reride will be ridden by Javier Castellano in the UAE Derby. Others pointing to the Group 2 event include Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Mendelssohn for trainer Aidan O'Brien, Gold Town, winner of the UAE 2000 Guineas by 10 lengths, and Yulong Warrior, winner of the Al Bastakiya this Saturday at Meydan by over 11 lengths.
