A trio of Kentucky Derby hopefuls – Irap, Practical Joke, and Tapwrit – all of which ran in the G2 Toyota Blue Grass April 8, turned in their first workouts since the Blue Grass early Friday morning at Keeneland.

The Daily Racing Form reports that Blue Grass winner Irap went seven furlongs in 1:30. Jockey Julien Leparoux, who rode Irap to victory in the Blue Grass, was aboard for the work. Trainer Doug O'Neill was in from California for the seven-furlong move, which clockers had the colt going in splits of 15, 29, 41.20, 53, and 1:06, with a mile “out” in 1:44.

Blue Grass runner-up Practical Joke worked with stablemate Ticonderoga for trainer Chad Brown. Practical Joke, a two-time G1 winner at age two, went a half-mile in 49.80. His earlier splits were 12.60, 24.80, and 37.40.

Tampa Bay Derby winner (and Blue Grass fifth-place finisher) Tapwrit worked in company with Wissam for trainer Todd Pletcher. Under regular rider Jose Ortiz, Tapwrit went five furlongs in 1:01.40, and galloped out six furlongs in 1:14.80 and seven furlongs in 1:28.40.
