Prices have risen so much at Churchill Downs, it has even Mike Repole complaining.
“It's cheaper to buy a mansion than be in the Mansion,” Repole told the New York Daily News in a recent interview. The Mansion is the new luxury suite at Churchill Downs, which replaced the press box. The press box is now located on the first floor in a simulcasting area – with no view of the track.
Many people are voicing their opinions about the prices, including Mike Repole, co-founder of Vitaminwater, which was sold to Coca-Cola in 2007 for $4.1 billion. Repole has Overanalyze entered in the Kentucky Derby, and the rather ironically-named Unlimited Budget in the Kentucky Oaks.
“My horse is in the race, my horse is in the Oaks and they (Churchill Downs) give you nothing,” Repole vented in the newspaper. “It's really embarrassing. They are a public company and it's all about the money.”
