Dennis' Moment is scheduled to start in the G2 Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 29, but his regular rider Irad Ortiz, Jr. will be out of the country riding the Saudi Cup card. According to drf.com, trainer Dale Romans has lined up jockey Flavien Prat to ride the Albaugh Family Stable's 3-year-old son of Tiznow for his first Kentucky Derby prep race of 2020.
“He's only ridden two horses for me, both on Pegasus Day, and he rode them well,” Romans told drf.com.
After unseating Robby Albarado in his first career start, Dennis' Moment broke his maiden by 19 1/4 lengths at Ellis Park. Next out in the G3 Iroquois, ridden by Ortiz, the colt won with ease while geared down to the wire. In the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, however, Dennis' Moment stumbled badly at the start and never recovered, finishing eighth.
