Cot Campbell's Dogwood Stable has had tremendous success in horse racing throughout the 40-plus years its been involved in the business. Two Eclipse Award winners and a Breeders' Cup champion are just a few of the many honors the stable has accumulated.
One thing missing on Dogwood's resume is a Kentucky Derby winner. Campbell is hopeful that Palace Malice will finally be the one that will correct that oversight.
Palace Malice, a son of Horse of the Year Curlin, will be the eighth horse to represent Dogwood Stable in the Derby. Coming off a strong runner-up performance in the G1 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes, Palace Malice has a strong chance in Louisville.
“We've asked a lot of him this spring and but he's bounced out of every race in good shape,” Campbell told WRDW News in a recent interview. “He's a big strong, hardy individual, and he's training like a house afire now at Churchill Downs.”
