Trainer Bob Baffert told drf.com that juvenile champion Game Winner is no longer under consideration for the Belmont Stakes. Instead, the 3-year-old son of Candy Ride will be aimed at Saratoga's Travers Stakes.
“I want to get him really, really right,” Baffert said. “The goal's the Travers; run him one time before that.”
Game Winner hasn't breezed since finishing fifth in the Kentucky Derby. He was given a clean bill of health at Rood & Riddle after the race, and has been at Churchill Downs ever since. Plans call for the colt to ship back to Southern California in the near future.
