Australian superstar mare Winx is still on a roll, and galloped to her 31st consecutive victory in Saturday's Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes at Randwick. The Street Cry mare and jockey Hugh Bowman reeled in runaway frontrunner Happy Clapper in the stretch to earn a world-record 23rd top-level victory, reports news.com.au.
“I knew Blake would try and pull a rabbit out of the hat. I knew he wouldn't be able to help himself. I didn't expect him to do it that way. I had the horse to get me out of trouble and she has done it time and time again,” Bowman said.
It was her fourth straight win in the Chipping Norton, and Winx is expected to run twice more before her impending retirement.
“I can see the sun going down, and hopefully we can get through two more races. She is a superstar. She is very, very special,” trainer Chris Waller told news.com.au.
