Promising three-year-old The Factor returned to the track Tuesday at Del Mar with his first official work since May 10. Trainer Bob Baffert hopes the War Front colt might be ready for a start in the King's Bishop August 27 at Saratoga, where he could face Uncle Mo, who's also been on the mend and preparing for a comeback race.
Baffert tells the Blood-Horse he's been easing the The Factor back into the game:
“He's been in training for about a month; we just took it easy with him and gave him extra time. He went nice, just cruised around there. It's good to have him back.”
A hairline fracture was discovered shortly after The Factor finished seventh as odds-on favorite in the Arkansas Derby April 16.
