Trainer Danny Gargan has scratched talented 3-year-old Tax from Sunday's Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby, reports drf.com, because the colt developed a fever after shipping from New York to Remington Park.
“He spiked a shipping temperature the day we got there,” Gargan said. “It came right back down [but] we decided to wait and do the right thing by the horse.
“We'll bring him home.”
Tax, winner of the Jim Dandy and most recently seventh in the Travers, could be re-routed to the Breeders' Cup Classic.
