Stonestreet Stables' Dynamite Charge, a 2-year-old filly by Super Saver, was fatally injured during morning training hours at Del Mar Sunday morning, reports trainer Doug O'Neill's Facebook page.
In her single career start, Dynamite Charge captured a maiden special weight race at Santa Anita by 4 1/4 lengths, covering 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:04.56 under Mario Gutierrez.
“With heavy hearts we are sad to share that the very promising filly, Dynamite Charge sustained a catastrophic training incident this morning,” reads the statement on O'Neill's Facebook page. “She was so special in so many ways, not only was she gifted with tremendous ability but she was a gentle giant with one of the biggest hearts of any in the barn. Dynamite Charge will be greatly missed.”
