Shug McGaughey Earns 1,800th Career Victory With Party Now

Stuart Janney III and Phipps Stable's Party Now won the $60,000 Hurstland Purse for 3-year-old fillies by two lengths over A Little Bit Sassy before a Sunday afternoon crowd of 13,442 at Keeneland.

Trained by Lexington native Shug McGaughey and ridden by Joe Rocco Jr., Party Now covered the mile on a turf course rated as good in 1:35.90.

The victory was the 1,800th in McGaughey's Racing Hall of Fame career.

Bred by her owners in Kentucky, Party Now is a daughter of Tiznow out of the Seeking the Gold mare Search Party. Rocco has ridden the filly in all four of her races with two wins and two runner-up finishes for earnings of $92,400.

Party Now returned $11, $5.40 and $3.80. A Little Bit Sassy, ridden by Luis Saez, returned $6.60 and $4.20 with favored Minorette finishing a length back in third under Joel Rosario and returning $3 to show.

Racing resumes Wednesday with an eight-race program beginning at 1:05 p.m. ET.
