Doubledown Stables' Recount managed to nose out his rivals in what came down to a three-horse finish at the wire of the Grade 3, $125,000 Arlington-Washington Futurity at Arlington Park on Saturday.
The juvenile gelding led early, with Private Prospect sitting just off his flank in second. The two dueled throughout the stretch, with One Go All Go joining them late in the stretch.
Private Prospect was second, and not far behind was One Go All Go in third. The final time for the seven furlongs on Polytrack was 1:24.25.
Recount turned the tables on Private Prospect, who defeated him at Prairie Meadows on August 9. Finishing between them that day was Lucky Player, who was also a winner on Saturday in the Iroquois at Churchill Downs. Trained by James DiVito, Recount was ridden to victory by Emmanuel Esquivel.
Bred in Illinois by Barney and Anne Gallagher, Recount is by Limehouse, who stands in West Virginia at O'Sullivan Farms, and out of the Bold Badgett mare Lucky in Love. He was a $40,000 yearling at Fasig-Tipton October last year from the Gallagher Farms consignment.
Bourbon Cowboy finished fourth, followed by Seraph and Mr Lightning Boy. Tender May was scratched.
