William Lawrence and Klaravich Stable's Pricedtoperfection proved very game in her successful drive to the wire in Saturday's Grade 3 Sweetest Chant Stakes at Gulfstream Park. Restricted to 3-year-old fillies, the Chad Brown trainee completed the one-mile turf contest in 1:36.98.
Longshots Go Ro Ro Go, Born To Be Winner and Little Cyclone set a solid early pace on the firm turf course, streaking out to fractions of :23.78 and :48.63. Pricedtoperfection was well rated early, placed in mid-pack in about seventh position by Joel Rosario. Rounding the turn for home, contenders spread nearly seven wide across the front of the field with the race up for grabs.
Rosario guided Pricedtoperfection through the fray, splitting rivals late to hit the wire about a half-length in front for the jockey's third win on the card. Spinamiss grabbed second with a late run along the outside, while Born To Be Winner held on to be third. Sapphire Kitten finished fourth.
Bred in Kentucky by Bobfeld Bloodstock and Joseph Creek, the daughter of Temple City was a $230,000 purchase at the Ocala Breeders' Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. Ninth in last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, PricedtoPerfection marked her first graded stakes win in the Sweetest Chant. The filly improved her lifetime record to two wins from five starts, with earnings of just over $130,000.
