For the first time in 17 races Saturday, frontrunning phenom Presious Passion will be ridden by someone other than Elvis Trujillo. Jockey Mike Smith will take the irons for Presious Passion's bid in the $300,000 Sunshine Millions Turf at Santa Anita.
Trujillo will remain at Gulfstream Park to ride two of Mary Hartmann's other trainees in the Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf and Filly & Mare Sprint.
“If (Smith's) good enough for Zenyatta, he's certainly good enough for me,” Hartmann joked.
Presious Passion is returning to the site of one of his greatest performances – a narrow loss in the 2009 Breeders' Cup Turf.
