Orb turns in his final work for the Travers Stakes 8/19/13

Orb finished his preparation for Saturday's G1 Travers Stakes with a sharp half-mile work over the Oklahoma training track at Saratoga Monday morning.

The Kentucky Derby-winning colt zipped through the half-mile in 47.66 and galloped out in 1:01.14, according to the Daily Racing Form. The work was the first for Orb since he returned to Saratoga from Fair Hill Training Center in Maryland Aug. 11.

Jennifer Patterson, the regular exercise rider for Orb, told the DRF that she feels the colt is training as well as he had over the winter.

“His stride when he's right is so big and he does things so easily he always fools me with his times,” Patterson said. “When he's right I just feel like we're galloping around there, and I had that feeling again this morning, which is really nice.”

Jennifer is a tremendous conditioner, and Shug resects her very, very, much–but her comment must have been taken out of context when she said she was fooled how fast he was going—if anyone would know within 2/10th of a second how fast he was going it would be her–correct?
