Trainer Aidan O'Brien took home his fifth Group 1 Irish Oaks victory Saturday with the sophomore filly Seventh Heaven, a daughter of Galileo. Ridden by Seamie Heffernan, racingpost.com reports that Seventh Heaven came home 2 3/4 lengths in front of the field, winning at odds of 14-1 to score the first top-level victory of her career.
“She had been working nicely and she loved the good ground today,” said O'Brien. “We always thought she had the makings of a high class filly and we'll consider sending her for the Yorkshire Oaks.”
Seventh Heaven is owned by the partners Derrick Smith, Mrs. John Magnier and Michael Tabor. She was bred in Ireland by the La Traviata Syndicate.
British rivals Architecture and Harlequeen finished second and third, respectively. Seventh Heaven's stablemate Even Song, the race-time favorite, was well-beaten.
