Following her second-place finish in Friday's Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks behind Abel Tasman, Daddys Lil Darling is being aimed at the June 2 Investec Oaks at Epsom Downs. Trainer Kenny McPeek told racingpost.com that the 3-year-old daughter of Scat Daddy, a half-sister to Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint winner Mongolian Saturday, would train on the grass gallops of his Kentucky farm prior to shipping overseas.

“They haven't had a Kentucky Oaks filly, so I guess William Hill and all those boys are going to have to work out how to set her odds,” McPeek joked. “The goal for an American-based filly is the Kentucky Oaks and that's what we did. We made her a dirt horse. You can't even find a Grade 1 for a grass filly in the US. As long as everything goes right and the client gives me the thumbs-up, I'm coming.”

Owned by her breeder Normandy Farm, Daddys Lil Darling has only made one start on the turf, finishing sixth in the Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay Downs to kick off her 2017 season. McPeek insists that the turf is not the issue, saying that he did not have the filly all the way fit for her 3-year-old debut. The trainer also indicated that he would not be bringing an American jockey for Daddys Lil Darling, and that he is in the market for a top local rider.
