Millionaire Shotgun Kowboy has been retired because of a sesamoid fracture, C.R. Trout, the gelding's breeder/owner/trainer, said Friday morning.

Shotgun Kowboy surpassed $1 million in career earnings with a Feb. 3, 2018, allowance victory at Oaklawn and bankrolled $1,548,684 in a 40-race career.

An 8-year-old Oklahoma-bred son of Kodiak Kowboy, Shotgun Kowboy was a 15-time winner, with eight coming in stakes, including the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby (G3) in 2015 at Remington Park. Shotgun Kowboy was scratched out of an allowance race Friday.
