A field of nine has signed on for the $300,000 Grade 3 Cornhusker Handicap on July 6 at Prairie Meadows, topped by the Bob Baffert-trained Dr. Dorr. A lightly-raced 5-year-old son of Lookin at Lucky, Dr. Dorr has won three of his four starts in 2018, including the G2 Californian Stakes. Most recently, he finished a distant second to Accelerate in the G1 Gold Cup at Santa Anita.

Taking on the California invader will be the Ian Wilkes-trained McCraken, stretching back out to 1 1/8 miles despite a year-end target in the Breeders' Cup Mile. The 4-year-old homebred son of Ghostzapper won an allowance race to kick off his 2018 campaign, but faded to sixth last-out in the G1 Met Mile.

Also in the field is former Baffert trainee Irish Freedom. Since his transfer to the barn of Brad Cox, the 4-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile has finished third and first in a pair of allowance starts at Churchill Downs.

The full field is as follows:

  1. Irish Freedom, 5-1
  2. Matrooh, 10-1
  3. Dr. Dorr, 2-1
  4. McCraken, 7-2
  5. Thirstforlife, 8-1
  6. Dalmore, 6-1
  7. Remembering Rita, 15-1
  8. Hence, 12-1
  9. Krewe Chief, 15-1
