Kentucky Oaks and Acorn winner Monomoy Girl will likely make her next start in the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks on July 22 at Saratoga, part-owner Sol Kumin told bloodhorse.com. The 3-year-old Tapizar filly is undefeated in 2018 for trainer Brad Cox.
“She'll run in the Oaks, but we'll probably skip the Alabama because of the distance,” said Kumin.
The Alabama, at Saratoga on Aug. 18, is run at 1 1/4 miles, while the CCA Oaks is held over 1 1/8 miles.
Kumin is also a part-owner in Santa Anita Oaks winner Midnight Bisou, who put on a show in last Saturday's Mother Goose at Belmont for new trainer Steve Asmussen. She will be aimed at the Alabama in Monomoy Girl's absence, Kumin said, though both fillies could show up for the G1 Cotillion Stakes at Parx in September.
