Owner/breeder Juddmonte Farm plans to keep the undefeated Taraz running against her own gender, at least through her next start, trainer Brad Cox told bloodhorse.com. The 3-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, winner of last Saturday's Martha Washington Stakes at Oaklawn, will be pointed to the G3 Honeybee on March 7.
The Honeybee offers 50 points toward the Kentucky Oaks to the winner, enough to usually guarantee a spot in the starting gate on the first Friday in May.
Cox didn't rule out the possibility that Prince Khalid bin Abdullah and his racing manager Garrett O'Rourke might decide to race Taraz against males following the Honeybee.
“It's one race at a time, obviously,” Cox said. “Right now, we've turned our attention toward the Honeybee and that's what we'll prepare for.”
