Ive Struck a Nerve, upset winner of the G2 Risen Star Stakes two weeks ago, is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington. The 3-year-old colt by Yankee Gentleman fractured a sesamoid in his left front ankle during a workout Saturday morning.
According to a report in the Daily Racing Form, the colt is expected to be sidelined at least six months.
Trainer Keith Desormeaux told the DRF that the colt departed Fair Grounds by van early Sunday and was to be operated on by Dr. Larry Bramlage.
