Herbie D notched his ninth victory in ten starts on Sunday with a win in the Grade 3 Longacres Mile Handicap at Emerald Downs. The 5-year-old Robert Gilker trainee has conquered his schedule at Hastings since late 2011, with wins in the CTHS Sales Stakes, Derby Bar and Grill Express Stakes, John Longden 6000 Stakes, Lieutenant Governors' Handicap, and Mt. Rainier Handicap.
Piloted by Amadeo Perez, Herbie D took command at the start of the race and never looked back, holding off late closers for owner/breeder George Robbins and owner Darcia Doman.
Herbie D was bred in British Columbia and is the son of Orchid's Devil and Katowice mare Chilli Chines.
Stryker Phd and Golden Itiz sustained a rider objection to remain in second and third, respectively. The final time for the mile was 1:35.12.
