Terry Hamilton's popular Keeneland standout Heart to Heart will make his fourth start in the Maker's 46 Mile (G1) when he takes on seven rivals in the 31st running of the $300,000 prestigious grass test on Friday at Keeneland. Twice a runner-up in the race before breaking through last year, Heart to Heart will seek to become the third horse to win the race in consecutive years.
The Maker's 46 Mile will go as the ninth race on Friday's 10-race program with a 5:30 p.m. ET post time. First post time that day is 1:05 p.m.
A two-time Grade 1 winner and 11-time graded stakes winner, Heart to Heart enters Friday's race off a fourth-place finish in the Tampa Bay (G3) on Feb. 9. Trained by Brian Lynch, Heart to Heart will attempt to join Wise Dan (2013-2014) and Kip Deville (2007-2008) as the only repeat winners of the Maker's 46 Mile.
Julien Leparoux, who was aboard for last year's victory, has the call Friday and will break from post position six.
Chief among the rivals to Heart to Heart is fellow Grade 1 winner Raging Bull (FR).
Trained by Chad Brown, the 4-year-old Raging Bull has compiled a 7-5-1-0 record on the turf beginning with a debut maiden victory here last spring. A three-time graded stakes winner who capped 2018 with a victory in the Hollywood Derby (G1) at Del Mar, Raging Bull will break from post position one under regular rider Joel Rosario.
The field for the Maker's 46 Mile from the rail out with riders and weights is: Raging Bull (FR) (Rosario, 123 pounds), Doctor Mounty (John Velazquez, 118), Hembree (Tyler Gaffalione, 118), Delta Prince (Javier Castellano, 118), Qurbaan (Irad Ortiz Jr., 118), Heart to Heart (Leparoux, 118), Clyde's Image (Albin Jimenez, 118) and Great Wide Open (IRE) (James Graham, 118).
