Admirals War Chest takes the Maryland Million Classic.

The wire came just in time for pace-setting Admirals War Chest, who had a clear lead coming into the stretch but found himself threatened by a late rally by Bullheaded Boy in the $150,000 Maryland Million Classic at Laurel Park Saturday.

Admirals War Chest is owned by Sinatra Thoroughbreds Racing LLC and is trained by Corby Caiazzo. He is by Elusive Charlie out of Cut a Check (Polish Numbers).

Making his stakes debut, Admirals War Chest, with Taylor Hole aboard, commanded the pace from the start and had opened up a considerable advantage over his rivals as they reached the far turn. But Bullheaded Boy was coming quickly through the stretch, and Admirals War Chest had just enough time to hold the late closer off for the victory.

I'm Mr. Blue finished third. Final time for the 1 1/8 miles on the main track was 1:51.49 after fractions of :24.21, :47.55 and 1:11.91.
