Coolmore's dual classic winner Winter will not race again this season, it was announced early Thursday.
According to Sporting Life, a decision on whether Winter will remain in training next year or be retired will be made at a later date.
A daughter of Galileo, Winter had a banner sophomore season, winning both the G1 British and Irish 1,000 Guineas, the G1 Coronation Stakes and G1 Nassau Stakes. She was also second in the G1 Matron.
“She hasn't been 100 per cent since the Arc,” trainer Aidan O'Brien told Press Association Sport.
“She hadn't done much since then and that's why she was taken out (of the Ascot races – British Champions day). She won't run again this year and whether she stays in training will have to be discussed.”
