In what may be its final time run at Fort Erie, the filly Dixie Strike closed from off the pace to win the Prince of Wales Stakes July 15.
Ridden by Patrick Husbands, Dixie Strike (Dixie Union-Noble Strike, by Smart Strike) defeated Ultimate Destiny by one length to take the 1 3/16-mile race, which is the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown. Colleen's Sailor was third.
Final time for the race was 1:57.54 over a fast dirt track.
The victory was the third in seven starts this year for Dixie Strike, who also captured the Selene Stakes (Can-III) in May. Mark Casse trains the 3-year-old filly, who is a half sister to 2011 Queen's Plate winner, Inglorious.
