This Saturday's Grade 2, $1.25 million Charles Town Classic is expected to draw a field of nine, according to drf.com. The field for the three-turn, 1 1/8 mile race will likely be headlined by Doug O'Neill's talented but lightly-raced Donworth, exiting a troubled trip in the Santa Anita Handicap where he finished seventh.
Also expected to make the trip to West Virginia are Page McKenney and Stanford. Page McKenney has won five of his last six starts for trainer Mary Eppler, including his first graded stakes victory last out at Laurel. Stanford is exiting a second-place finish in the Gulfstream Park Handicap for trainer Todd Pletcher, and like Donworth is seeking his first graded victory.
Other probable entries include Richard Baltas' Imperative, Mike Maker's S'maverlous and International Star, John Sadler's Hard Aces, Phil Schoenthal's Sonny Inspired, and Otabek Umarov's Looks to Spare.
