The 2019 race plans for champion Monomoy Girl were derailed earlier this year by an episode of colic, but the 4-year-old daughter of Tapizar has now resumed light training at WinStar Farm.
Bloodstock agent Liz Crow posted a video of Monomoy Girl jogging on the training track with a pony at WinStar, and noted that she is less than a month away from returning to the track with trainer Brad Cox. The video is available below.
Last year Monomoy Girl gave Cox his first Grade 1 win in the Ashland at Keeneland, then proceeded to wrap up the divisional title with wins in the Kentucky Oaks, Acorn, CCA Oaks, and Breeders' Cup Distaff. Her only loss in 2018 came in the G1 Cotillion, in which she crossed the line first but was disqualified and placed second to Midnight Bisou for interference.
Monomoy Girl back jogging @WinStarFarm and doing outstanding! Shes definitely wondering when we are going to turn her loose. About 3-4 weeks away from returning to @bradcoxracing care. We get so many texts/calls on how she's doing, which is so great, want to keep everyone updated pic.twitter.com/wkfGBC7N0n
