Breeders' Cup Distaff winner and Eclipse champion Monomoy Girl will not make her 2019 debut in the G1 La Troienne on May 3 as her connections originally planned. According to bloodhorse.com, the 4-year-old daughter of Tapizar suffered a mild case of colic after she was shipped from the Fair Grounds up to Churchill Downs.
Monomoy Girl spent several days at Rood and Riddle and was treated for dehydration, and has since been transferred to WinStar Farm for her recovery. Trainer Brad Cox expects to have the filly back in his barn at the beginning of May.
“It's unfortunate,” Cox said. “The timing is not good, but it is what it is and we have to put the horse first.”
