Centralinteligence seen winning the 2013 G1 Triple Bend Handicap at Hollywood Park

Centralinteligence, who was pulled up during this year's Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, is doing well following surgery for a condylar fracture. Veterinarians inserted two stabilizing pins into his front leg last weekend.

According to trainer Ron Ellis via a Daily Racing Form report, the horse has a 70 to 80 percent chance of returning to the races after his recovery.

The 5-year-old son of Smarty Jones earned his first graded stakes win in June with the Grade 1 Triple Bend Handicap, after finishing second in the Grade 3 Los Angeles Handicap two years in a row.

    Return to racing…really?

“Seventy to eighty percent chance of returning to the races.”…Guess some insurance company will be buying his carcass when all is said and done ;'(

Maybe not. But I don’t like the angle on the off hind pastern.

What was different about this injury and Secret Compass’.? She had to be put down. There had to be something different.

In additon to the condylar fracture, she also displaced her ankle. That can’t be fixed.

Personal Ensign has the same injury and several screws and returned to cap off an unbeaten season and an unbeaten career, and went on to continue a long line of blue hens. I’m pretty sure no one would have risked her unless it was a thoroughly stabilized area. I would think that there is probably a strong prognosis for the vets to follow.

seriously? return to racing? hasn’t he done enough? Maybe earned an E ticket to retirement?

I saw that CentealIntelligence came through the surgery fine and that is wondeful. Maybe he really will be able to race again. Great!
