Windways Farm, Gary Barber, and Michael James Ambler's Catch A Glimpse provided fans with quite a scare in Saturday's G2 Nassau Stakes at Woodbine, but bloodhorse.com reports that she was doing well on Sunday morning. The daughter of City Zip was just off the pace in the one mile turf contest when, nearing the half-mile mark, jockey Florent Geroux pulled her up sharply. Catch A Glimpse then collapsed at the seven-sixteenths pole, and veterinarians determined it to be a combination of heat stroke and that the filly bled for the first time.
“When she was laying on the grass, Flo was really upset over it all because he was right there. But the good news is she's great,” trainer Mark Casse said. “She ate up last night and she's a happy camper this morning. She's never bled so that was kind of a strange deal. But the good news is, who would have thought, given the situation at the time, that she would be in good order.”
The Canadian champion, unbeaten in her first eight starts on the turf, will now head to the farm to rest for several months. It remains unclear whether she will return to the races, and Casse said the owners would get together to discuss her future.
