Peter Brant's sophomore filly Cafe Americano closed out a dominant day for Chad Brown at Arlington Park with a win in the G3 Pucker Up Stakes, giving the trainer a sweep of the final four races on the card (including the three Grade 1's, Beverly D., Secretariat, and Arlington Million). The daughter of Medaglia d'Oro closed from well off the pace to win by a little over two lengths at odds of 5-2, guided by Irad Ortiz, Jr. to complete 1 1/8 miles over the firm turf in 1:47.72.
Bred in Kentucky by Blue Heaven Farm, Cafe Americano is out of the multiple graded stakes winning Indian Charlie mare Roxy Gap. A $625,000 yearling, the filly won her first two starts before finishing sixth in the G1 Belmont Oaks. The Pucker Up is her first graded stakes win, and improves her record to three wins from four career starts for earnings of $150,000.
