At 13-1, Briecat led all way to capture the Grade 2, $150,000 Las Palmas Handicap on closing day of the Oak Tree at Hollywood Park meet.
With Patrick Valenzuela riding, Briecat was game down the stretch, holding off two late challengers to win the one mile race by a neck. The winning time was 1:34.77.

She maintained a 2-3 length advantage down the backstretch and around the far turn, setting fractions of 24.20, 47.93 and 1:11.19. Valenzuela set her down at the top of the stretch, and she never gave up the lead, even though Westwood Pride and Turning Top were coming on late. They finished second and third, respectively, in a blanket finish at the wire.
Briecat was coming off a second-place finish in a stakes race October 10th at the Oak Tree meet. Before that, she won a stake at Fairplex.
