Breeders' Cup Turf winner Found returned to the winner's circle Monday with a sharp 1 1/4-length victory in the Group 3 Camelot EBF Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh.
The 4-year-old daughter of Galileo notched her first win of the year in the Mooresbridge, after having finished third in the listed Alleged Stakes last month.
Settled at the rear of the five-horse field through the early stages of the race, Found was stuck behind a wall of horses and appeared defeated just over two furlongs from the wire. Under another masterful ride from jockey Ryan Moore, however, Found was able to thread her way between horses and take command with under a furlong to run before pulling away for the victory.
After the race trainer Aidan O'Brien told the Post, “Found hasn't come in her coat and I didn't think she'd come on as much as she seems to have.”
“You'd have to be very happy. The plan was that she would go next to the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh and possibly the Coronation, but basically she's to get a break with a view to later in the season.”
“We'd be thinking two runs after the break before the Arc, and maybe the Breeders' Cup after that.”
