Baffert hopeful Bodemeister ready for stakes company

A three-year-old colt named after Bob Baffert's son, Bode, turned heads with his maiden-breaking performance at Santa Anita Park Saturday.  Bodemeister zoomed to the lead in the one-mile race and drew off in the stretch for a 9 1/4-length victory under a hand ride from jockey Rafael Bejarano.

Now, Baffert's looking for a race to grab those all-important graded stakes earnings if Bodemeister is to be a legitimate Derby threat after breaking his maiden as a three-year-old.

“I'll have to give extra time and run him back in March somewhere,” Baffert tells the Daily Racing Form. “I'll have to find a spot.”
