Aubby K took command at the top of the stretch and cruised to an impressive victory in the Grade 1 Humana Distaff at Churchill Downs May 4.
It was the first career G1 victory for the daughter of Street Sense, who has now won four of eight lifetime starts. The victory also marked the first at the highest level for her trainer, Ralph Nicks.
Ridden with confidence by Edgar Prado, Aubby K sat just off the sharp pace set by Jamaican Smoke. Prado kept her in a stalking position as they swept through the far turn, taking command at the top of the stretch to win easily by 1 1/2 lengths.
Burban closed late to get up second by a neck over Holiday Soiree. Final time for the seven furlongs was 1:22.93 over the sloppy main track.
Aubby K was bred in Kentucky by her owner, James C. Spence.
