Amazombie had the final say in the Grade 2, $150,000 Potrero Grande Stakes Sunday at Santa Anita Park.

Amazombie and Captain Cherokee broke away from the field in mid-stretch and battled to the wire, with Amazombie, under Mike Smith, getting the bob at the wire.  The winning time for six and a half furlongs was 1:14.26.  Ventana finished third.

Amazombie is owned by Sanford Or Spawr and was bred in California by Gregg Anderson.  Trained by Bill Spawr, he's a five-year-old son of Northern Afleet out of the In Excess mare, Wilshe Amaze.
