According to Horse-Canada.com, the Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association of Ontario reported Friday that the Tapeta installation is on schedule at the Woodbine oval.
Removal of the Canadian track's polytrack surface began on Dec. 1, following the finish of the 2015 thoroughbred meet. The warm weather being experienced in the Ontario area has led workers to predict that the installation of the new surface should be finished before the end of the month.
Woodbine Entertainment Group CEO Jim Lawson told Horse-Canada.com that the WEG, in conjunction with the HBPA, “went through an exhaustive consultation exercise in our search for the new main track. It's clear that Tapeta is the next generation of horse racing surfaces that we'll be proud to unveil in April of 2016.”
