A track announcer who has called the races for more than half a century closed the door on a long career on Friday night.
Jim Moran, who has called the races at Vernon Downs for 52 years, called his last race on Friday night and described his work as “a labor of love.”
“I've got a thrill out of doing the work that I do,” says Moran, who plans to return to the races this summer as a spectator.
