TVG To Show 2016 Breeders’ Cup Undercard Races

Statement from Breeders' Cup on Distribution Channels for the 2016 World Championships:

“The 2016 Breeders' Cup World Championships, November 4-5, will be televised live on NBC, NBCSN and streamed live on and on various ADW websites.”

“In addition, TVG will televise the six undercard races on Friday and the three undercard races on Saturday at Santa Anita Park.”

A Paulick Report article on Tuesday indicated a marketing agreement between Breeders' Cup and TwinSpires – making the advance deposit wagering company the official wagering partner of the Breeders' Cup – effectively blocked TVG from televising the undercard races from Santa Anita. Officials worked out a deal over the last 24 hours allowing TVG to cover the undercard races. However, TVG personnel will not be on-site at Santa Anita as they are throughout the year.

TVG made an on-air announcement regarding the situation earlier today.

This never should’ve been an issue. Every viewer is a potential client- Marketing101

Thank you for bringing the issue to light, Ray! I believe it is the only reason they came to an agreement. Don’t care if they are on site or in Siberia!!! We just want to see the ALL of the races on TV. We will be at Santa Anita both days, but I am still recording it all on the various networks. Great job, Mr. Paulick!!!!!

The game of (broadcast) “rights” for an event is sometimes convoluted, often-times compromising local affiliates and those doing shoulder programming. This ain’t the NFL and couldn’t be talking about a lot of dollars so glad to see the public getting the nod for a change.

  • Good on them.

Great!! Too bad our industry can’t seem to do a lot right. Should have never been an issue.

It sounds like a bunch of double talk. At the end of the day, everyone came to their senses & did right by the fans.

I’m glad TVG customers will now be able to see the BC racing broadcasts. The fact it was ever in doubt was wrong. Regular cable though will show select races & for that I’m doing my happy-dance!

I feel sorry for the people who only have TVG but, after initial improvement by Betfair, TVG has degenerated back into a joke of a company and network again. A couple of weeks ago there was a raiser tight photo in a race at Santa Anita and, instead of waiting for the result, they went to Brittany and her cameraman showing BC shippers getting off a van. Last weekend, we were treated to watching California Chrome’s 40 minute van ride to Santa Anita from Los Al. Sadly, these people are complete clowns and inexplicably focus on the members of their audience who produce ZERO revenue for their company. What other business is this stupid?

Remember the most important thing to TVG is that they dont miss any coverage of GOLDEN GATES

I’m very glad for this news…I only watch the actual BC race when it runs and come back to TVG in between…I just can’t handle Randy Moss et. al on NBC for all those hours…
