Frank Girardot, writing for the Whittier Daily News in California, surmises the similarities of horse racing and politics. Past performances, connections and money all make the two endeavors closer than many of us might think.


If Girardot is right, then why do racing and politics seem to butt heads all of the time? And why does racing seem to grab the short straw in any matchup between the two?
