With opening day three weeks away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, Santa Anita's Winter Meet Condition Book One is now available online and in the Santa Anita Racing Office. The book will encompass 13 racing days and offer horsemen a total of 16 stakes, with 13 of them graded events and three Grade I's—the opening day Malibu and La Brea Stakes as well as the American Oaks on Saturday, Dec. 29.
First post time for a 10-race card on opening day will be at 11:30 a.m. and in addition to the Malibu and La Brea, the Grade II San Antonio Stakes, the Grade II Mathis Brothers Mile (turf) and the Lady of Shamrock Stakes will also be offered.
Following is Santa Anita's initial stakes offering through the 13 days of Winter Book One:
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 26
–$300,000, Grade I Malibu Stakes – 3-year-olds, seven furlongs
–$300,000, Grade I La Brea Stakes – 3-year-old fillies, seven furlongs
–$300,000 San Antonio Stakes – 3-year-olds & up, 1 1/16 miles
–$200,000 Mathis Brothers Mile – 3-year-olds, mile turf
–$75,000 Lady of Shamrock Stakes – 3-year-old fillies, mile turf
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28
–$75,000 Eddie Logan Stakes – 2-year-olds, mile turf
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 29
–$300,000, Grade I American Oaks – 3-year-old fillies, 1 ¼ miles on turf
